Understanding Our Color

Not sure what the numbers mean? Here’s how our color system works — so you can pick the right shade the first time.

The number tells you how light the shade is. Higher numbers are lighter — #1 is our darkest black, and #60 is the lightest platinum blonde. For example, #20 is lighter than #18.

The last two digits = your gray percentage. In a code like #210, the first part (#2) is the base shade and the last two digits (10) are the amount of gray — so #210 is dark brown with 10% gray, #220 is 20% gray, and so on. Match this to how much gray you naturally have.
